Abstract: It is a long history that traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) as some natural herbs were used in clinical practice and contraception. With the development of modern medicine, hormonal contraceptives gradually become mainstay. Actually,TCM was not replaced in clinical practice, especially in reproductive medicine. In recent years, many experiments confirmed that some TCMs have antifertility effects, meanwile have more important antibacterial effects. We reviewed the research progress of TCM antifertility, and TCM active compositions,so as to provide theoretical basis for the further research and clinical application of Chinese herbal medicine.
