Abstract: Objective:To evaluate the impacts of intervention project on contraception demands of
family planning for migrants of Sichuan province. Methods:The study was an epidemiological intervention
study. A total of 2 197 migrants, including 1 198 in the intervention group and 999 in the control group, who
were aged between 18 and 49 years were selected by multi鄄stage random cluster sampling and interviewed in
Chengdu and Panzhihua of Sichuan Province. The chi鄄square test and logistic regression were used to analyze
the data. Results: The most wanted family planning services in both groups were counseling and information,
education and communication (IEC)service. After the evaluation survey was conducted, we found that the
proportions of subjects wanting to get IEC service and counseling service in intervention group were 82.71%
and 83.26%, respectively, which were both higher than those of control group(74.10% and 76.88%,P<0.000 1, P=0.000 6). Moreover, the multi鄄logistic analysis found that the intervention activities promoted the demands
for IEC and counseling service significantly. Compared with the subjects of control group, those of intervention
group had more demands of IEC and the OR value was 1.62(95% CI: 1.29-2.04). The demands of counseling
service of intervetnion group also were higher than that of control group (OR =1.70, 95%CI: 1.34-2.15). Conclusions:Comprehensive intervention measures could help to raise migrants’demands of IEC and
consulting services about contraception.
