Abstract:

Objective: To investigate the intervention impact on contraception knowledge of the
migrants in Sichuan Province, and to analyze the influential factors which probably impinge on the contraceptive
knowledge, thus provide information for the further interventions and strategies. Methods: The multi鄄stage
random cluster sampling was used to select the migrants whose age were between 18 and 49 years old. The chi鄄
square tests, and Multiple鄄linear regression analysis was used to analysis the data. Results: 2 197 people were
interviewed in the baseline survey, while 1 877 people were interviewed in the evaluation survey. Significant
difference was found in total score between the intervention group and the control group in the evaluation survey
(P<0.01). The total score of the intervention group in evaluation survey has increased 40 marks averagely than
baseline survey. Before and after the two surveys, there was also statistically significant differences of the
knowledge scores of the contraceptive methods between the two groups and differences of contraceptive knowledge
level were also significant in which people who were in different gender, marital status, education background, the
workplace and the status of the subjects who received family planning management. The multiple鄄linear regression
analysis showed that the impact of intervention on contraception knowledge level was significant statistically. Conclusions: The implementation of the intervention significantly can increase knowledge of contraception in the
migrants in Sichuan Province, while gender, marital status, education background, the workplace and the status of
the subjects who receive family planning management have great impact on the level of the contraceptive
knowledge among the migrants in these two areas. It is necessary to strengthen intervention and improve the levelof family planning management further.of family planning management further.
