Men’s Attitude and Perception on Women’s Reproductive Health Related Issues

Abstract: Objective: To analyze men’s attitude and perception on women’s reproductive health
related issues,as well as men’s responsibility of HIV/AIDS prevention. Methods:The quantitative
questionnaire interviews and qualitative Focus Group Discussions and In鄄depth interviews were employed. Results:Men had inadequate understanding on women’s susceptibility and vulnerability in terms of
reproductive health risk issues. It also needed to improve the men’s concerns on women’s reproductive health.
More than half of the men devoided of forgiveness and discriminate against their wives’infection. Conclusions:
Men’s understanding and awareness on women’s health risk and status would encourage men’s involvement in
women’s reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention. It is important to set up social equity and equality and
eliminate the discrimination with regarding to HIV/AIDS prevention. It is suggested to build new gender norms
and pay more attention on both men and women’s needs.
