Ethical Concideration on the Disposition Decision of Frozen Embryos

Abstract: With the ever-increasing popularity and development of cryopreserved embryos technique,a large number of surplus embryos have been generated with increasing percentage of accumulation pregnancy. Hundreds of thousands of frozen embryos, patients, physicians and embryologists feel it difficult how to deal with. A central challenge was to make decision of the disposition of excess embryos. Now, some countries have developed the laws or guidelines to govern the disposition. Rational disposition was three methods, disposal, donation to medical research, or donation to a recipient infertile couple for infertility treatment. Issues related to the surplus embryos may trigger a series of ethical and legal controversies. In this review,how to understand and treat properly those ethical issues was focused.
