Abstract: The characteristic of assisted reproductive technology(ART) is to handle gametes and embryos in vitro fertilization to get qualified embryos, then to transfer it to wife's uterus. It is very important to manipulate gametes and embryos safely and properly. All procedures conducted in the laboratory involve so many manipulations, such as gametes collection, embryos cultivating and embryos cryopreservation. There is the possibility of errors, which is directly relevant to many ethical problems. So, it is necessary to establish and implement the clear and practical laboratory safety system for minimizing the potential risk. In this review, we discussed how to promote the safety of manipulating gametes and embryos in ART, how to ensure the furthest benefit of patients who had ART. It is helpful to promote ART in Chinese, providing a consistently high-quality service under the social ethics regulation.
