Advances in miRNAs and Etiology of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

摘要: 多囊卵巢综合征(PCOS)是一种常见的生殖内分泌疾病,其主要特征是高雄激素血症、稀发排卵或无排卵、卵巢多囊样改变及胰岛素抵抗。微小RNA(miRNA)是一类小分子非编码RNA,在转录后水平对靶基因进行调控。miRNA可以通过调节卵巢颗粒细胞增殖和凋亡影响卵泡发育、排卵与闭锁;通过影响雄激素的合成和释放,导致内分泌紊乱;通过调节糖代谢及胰岛素敏感性,诱导胰岛素抵抗的产生,从而参与PCOS的发病过程。现就miRNA在PCOS病因学研究中的进展进行综述。

Abstract: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common reproductive endocrine disorders. The main features of PCOS include hyperandrogenism, chronic anovulation, polycystic ovaries and insulin resistance. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a family of small-molecule, single-stranded, non-coding RNAs, which regulate the expressions of target genes at the posttranscriptional level. MiRNAs can influence follicular development, ovulation and atresia by regulating ovarian granulosa cell proliferation and apoptosis. MiRNAs also cause the endocrine disorder by disturbing the androgen synthesis, and induce insulin resistance through regulating glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. It is concluded that miRNAs participate in the pathogenesis of PCOS. In this article, the research progress of miRNAs in etiology of PCOS was reviewed.
