Endocrine Abnormalities and Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion

Abstract: The recurrent miscarriage is traditionally defined as three or more consecutive pregnancy losses before 20 weeks. The causes of recurrent spontaneous abortion are not clear,including genetic factors, uterine abnormalities,immunologic and endocrine factors,infections,and unexplained abortion. The endocrine disorders is related to recurrent miscarriage, including disorders of both reproductive glands and other glands. This article discussed the relationships between recurrent spontaneous abortion and endocrine disorders such as luteal insufficiency,thyroid dysfunction,hyperprolactinemia,insulin resistance and hyperandrogenism. However, it needs more study to understand the mechanism of recurrent miscarriage caused by endocrine abnormalities.
