Abstract: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, is characterized by anovulation, hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance. Moreover, PCOS have the increased risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and endometrial cancer. Recent studies indicated that TGF-β surperfamily plays an important role in various pathological processes of PCOS, such as anovulation, hyperandrogenism ,insulin resistance and so on. In addition, it has a correlation with the long-term complications of PCOS, such as cardiovascular disease, endometrial cancer and so on. This review will demonstrate the role of important members of TGF-β superfamily in the regulation of ovarian function, especially the expression and role in pathophysiological mechanism of PCOS.
